Why did you decide to become a counselor?
As long as I can remember, people have started sentences with "I've never told anyone this before but.." It is very meaningful to me and I feel honored when clients trust me with very personal, private information knowing that I am receiving the information without judgment and with their well being in mind.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients that want to understand themselves better. Quite honestly though, I have never had a client that I didn't genuinely care about and want to help.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
You are not the only one feeling the way you do. The more I speak to individuals and couples the more affirmation I receive that we all have so much more in common than we know.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work at Thriveworks because every email they send contains an exclamation point! It's hard to read tone over email but the exclamation points give such a positive vibe!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, an individual or couple can expect that I will need to obtain some background information. We will focus on why treatment is being sought and develop treatment goals. Most importantly, I will let the individual or couple know that research has shown clients achieve more positive outcomes when they give their therapist feedback. I always ask at the end of a first session 'what was helpful? what wasn't helpful?'
