Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor in order to support individuals in becoming the best versions of themselves. People can face all different hurdles and setbacks that can lead a need for support. I have found that supporting others to be their best selves is something that I no only enjoy, but something that I strongly encourage for a lot of folks. It is also immensely important to reduce stigma related to mental health, which is a huge reason why I wanted to become a counselor to destigmatize reaching out for support.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
It is not only ok to not be ok and reach out for support, but it is a normal part of life.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In a first session I will be spending time to understand what is bringing you into counseling, what your specific goals are and building rapport to encourage a safe space for sharing.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time I love to be active. I spend time with my family, my dogs, running, snowboarding, playing basketball, and coaching soccer. I also love to read and watch movies and I am always interested in new suggestions for both!
