About Christine
Christine Burgess is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has 15 years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, middle-aged, and older who are suffering from depression, anxiety, and codependence, as well as the consequences of trauma, divorce, life transitions, and relationship troubles.
Christine completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology at Westfield State University and her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Boston College.
She utilizes mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral techniques, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), boundary development, and others to help the client reach a deeper understanding of themselves; gain an increased awareness around behavioral/emotional/thinking patterns; and discover connections between one’s psychosocial history and current functioning within an atmosphere of nonjudgmental acceptance. Christine embraces the uniqueness of each individual and tailors treatment with that in mind.
As a skilled therapist, Christine’s warm and empathetic demeanor, combined with humor and directness, invites her clients into a collaborative therapeutic relationship, where the client is valued and respected at all times, so as to facilitate a process of openness and transformation into improved mental health and overall wellbeing.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I entered this field with confidence that this was my life's purpose. I have known most of my life that being a helper was exactly how I wanted to invest my time. The reason for this was and is motivated by a compassion and empathy for those who are suffering from the many ills around and within us, as I am one of them.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with a client who is ready and open to the therapeutic process.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with a client who is simply open to the possibility of healing, restoration, discovery and mystery.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I think it's helpful to know that therapy is all about the process and relationship with your helper. The therapeutic relationship is a co-creation rather than a provider-consumer dynamic.

Clients can count on being listened to with empathy and compassion and support as they share their story.
