I found Cheri to be really approachable, a great listener. She put me at ease. I appreciated when she told me a little about herself and I appreciated walking away with some "homework"

Get to know Cheryl
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I got into psychology because I had this lovely, misguided notion that I could help my own family if I knew more. THAT part didn't work out so great, but I have learned a lot and like to think that I've helped others.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
It is exciting to work with people who are invested in their own health.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
We all need a little help sometimes.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks offers the winning combination of community and autonomy.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by nature, plants, puppies, and coffee.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Hopefully we can get to know each other a little.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During the first session, I believe its important to get to know each other a little, but its also very important to define what goals the client wants to accomplish with me.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I have a strong sense of fun.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Read, write, bike ride, hike, play with my dogs, kayak, camp, do things with my husband and family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My combination of stubbornness and open-mindedness.
