Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I love communicating with and supporting people. Most specifically I was eager to utilize compassion and mindfulness teaching to help clients grow in self-awareness and to heal -- to help people grow in diversified ways. Seeing others grow and make breakthroughs in their personal life is meaningful and satisfying. It makes the challenges of the job worthwhile.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with any client who is open to the therapeutic process. Specifically, I love to support those eager to learn, grow, and discover new ways of being. Such individuals may be facing anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, grief, difficult life transitions, or other challenges. I welcome all into my practice who seek support and wish to help themselves.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients eager to learn, grow, and discover new ways of seeing and living in the world. Through deepening self-awareness, healing, growth, and increased well-being can follow.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that challenges when faced bravely lead to growth. Many will learn this with me in session and I hope they practice it outside of therapy. Personal growth depends on challenges and facing challenges bravely leads to strengthened character.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work at Thriveworks because I respect, admire, and feel aligned with the company's mission: to streamline the therapeutic process for clients and clinicians. Feeling connected to this vision and intention motivated me to pursue work at Thriveworks.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by music, peaceful living, acts of kindness, travel, and nature.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In their first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming environment where we explore primary symptoms, challenges, and goals and begin to establish a therapeutic rapport. Clients can expect to gain clarity of the nature and origin of their problems. Clients will become familiar with my therapeutic approach and philosophy and have a chance to share and ask questions about the therapeutic process.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I wish to establish the foundation for a healthy therapeutic alliance, including reviewing informed consent and confidentiality, learning of the client's primary struggles, establishing appropriate boundaries, sharing my approach and philosophy, and exploring expectations.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a first session, clients should know that I offer a personable, warm, and relation-based therapeutic environment where we collaboratively establish measurable goals. As a team, we will pursue those goals, and I will support you through whatever fluctuations and challenges present themselves on your path toward increased well-being, harmonious living, and peace.
