About Amanda

Amanda Wayne is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has had the great fortune to work with clients of all ages, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and socio/economic statuses. She believes we all possess unique qualities, as well as a universal desire for connection and understanding. Amanda says it is always gratifying to help clients find their unique path towards self-knowledge and emotional growth.

Amanda strongly believes that therapy is a journey shared by therapist and client. She is always respectful of each client's strengths and insight. Over her many years of practice, she has remained curious and open to new and innovative forms of practice. Amanda has been especially encouraged by the power of mindfulness, which has become a significant part of her practice; helping clients to live in the present, appreciate the beauty in life, and learn strategies to heal and thrive.

"I always feel privileged to be enlisted as a partner in the therapeutic journey. I remain in awe of each client's unique ability to identify goals and strive to meet them," says Amanda. "I am always encouraged by the ways in which therapy can bring about positive change."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I have always been fascinated by the ability of individuals to overcome obstacles and live life fully.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I am consistently impressed by the ability of clients to identify goals. I am especially open to working with clients who seek to play can active role in their therapy.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I find that working with a diverse range of clients always offers a unique opportunity for growth as a clinician. Therefore, I welcome each client as a new partner. Together we can bring clarity and meaningful change, in a way that recognizes each individuals unique gifts, and ability to thrive.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

My greatest wish is for clients to be aware that they are always valued as an active and vital part of their therapy.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I am impressed by Thriveworks mission statement , along with it’s focus on providing flexible treatment options. I am grateful to be a part of Thriveworks ongoing effort to meet the needs of individuals who are unable to otherwise access therapy. I view Thriveworks as a leader in making therapy available to all who seek it.

What inspires you?

My clients are my greatest teachers, and source of inspiration.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Our first session will be opening the door to a new relationship. it is an opportunity for therapist and client to begin learning about one another. I encourage clients to feel free to ask questions. I will always seek to be open to an exchange of ideas.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I believe that the first session offers a significant opportunity for clients to be heard. My goal is to create a safe space, where clients can begin to trust in a new relationship..

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I would like clients to know that I am open and accepting of all the ways in which people are beautiful and unique. I also want clients to know that I have a keen sense of humor, and always seek to find joy, and optimism in the therapeutic process.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I always cherish the chance to spend time with family and friends. However, I also value time spent alone to read, listen to music, cook, and just daydream. I am trained as a Pilates instructor, and always find any kind of exercise as an amazing way to promote a sense of positive energy. I am always open to just about any volunteer opportunity that comes my way!

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I like to think that compassion is my greatest strength.
