Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed helping others since a young age. I think it's important to advocate for others who may feel their voice is unheard. This field also allows me to help others find their voice.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Clients who are transparent, trust the process and my expertise, and are willing to put in effort.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I really enjoy working with adolescents. Watching them learn life skills and how to handle major life transitions and issues is very rewarding. This helps to promote more people entering into adulthood as a healthier version of themselves.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Everyone can benefit from therapy. Seeking therapy doesn't mean that anything is "wrong" with you. Therapy is you recognizing this another way to have a trained individual assist with life goals and struggles.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I love the freedom Thriveworks allow as far as how I choose to practice. It also allows me to be exposed to different populations to work with.
What inspires you?
My inspiration is drawn from watching and helping my clients become better versions of themselves as well allowing myself to become a better clinician through the experiences with my clients.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect for me to ask questions that will allow for me to get to know you and also learn what is bringing you to therapy. We will also explore your goals for therapy and review expectations of the therapeutic relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
My main goal is to make sure the individual feels comfortable and excited about their new journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I meet clients where they are at emotionally so there is no need to feel judged coming into your first session.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to read! Suspense and mystery novels are my favorite. If I'm not reading, I'm watching HGTV or Law and Order, SVU, spending time with family and friends and I try to travel as much as I can.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I always try to be genuine, no matter what I'm doing.
