About Kelsey

Hi, I’m Kelsey Giddings, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) serving clients throughout Louisiana through telehealth. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling and am passionate about helping individuals feel understood, supported, and empowered. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, emotional dysregulation, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their experiences, develop effective coping skills, and work toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients understand their thoughts, regulate emotions, and build healthy coping skills. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and goal-oriented, providing a safe space where clients feel supported as they grow, heal, and create lasting change

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and personal growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I believe every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported through life’s challenges. I have always been passionate about helping others grow, navigate difficult experiences, and discover their own strengths. Becoming a counselor allows me to provide a safe, compassionate space where clients can process their experiences, develop healthy coping skills, and work toward meaningful change and healing.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adolescents and adults who are seeking support through life’s challenges and are ready to make meaningful changes. I enjoy working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I value working with individuals who want to better understand themselves, build healthy coping skills, improve their relationships, and create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish all clients knew that therapy is a journey, and healing does not happen overnight. Growth often comes through small steps, selfreflection, and learning new ways to navigate life’s challenges. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. You deserve a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to create positive change.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where we begin getting to know one another and explore what brought them to therapy. We will discuss their goals, challenges, strengths, and what they hope to gain from counseling. In the early stages of therapy, we will work together to build trust, develop coping skills, and create a personalized plan that supports growth and healing.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is guided by the values of compassion, empathy, and the belief that every person has the ability to grow and heal. I believe in meeting clients where they are and creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where they feel comfortable being their authentic selves. My experiences have strengthened my passion for helping others feel supported, understood, and empowered as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful change.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe therapy should be as unique as the individual seeking support. I take time to understand each client’s experiences, strengths, goals, and challenges to create a personalized approach that fits their needs. By using evidence-based approaches such as CBT and DBT, I collaborate with clients to develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and support meaningful progress at their own pace.
