My name is Janea Robinson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered care in a welcoming and respectful space. I view therapy as a collaborative process: you are the expert, and I am here to support you through your unique journey. I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, and loss. Whether you are seeking relief from emotional distress, coping skills, self-understanding, healthier relationships, or a sense of hope. Together, we develop practical strategies that support lasting, positive change.

I see myself as an eclectic therapist, combining ideas and styles from a wide range of therapies rather than following cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) specifically. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a trauma therapy to assist with processing traumatic events more healthily.

We will work together to put the control of your life back in your hands. Life throws challenges that can make us feel like we have no options, but together we will change that narrative. Anything that life has thrown at you does not define who you are as a person. Our mistakes or bad choices aren't meant to control us; they're meant to teach us.

"As someone who has experienced many hardships in life, mainly trauma and loss, I use a therapeutic approach that draws on person-centered and CBT-based strategies, creating a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to build coping skills and foster self-compassion."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I believe that being a counselor is my calling. I have been through so many things myself, from losing a child to being in a bad relationship, and I just want to instill hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adolescents to the geriatric population.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing all clients wish to know about therapy is that it does not mean that you are weak. A person deciding to seek therapy is actually the strongest person in the world, because knowing and understand that help is needed to manuver through lifes stresses, takes strength.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The client can expect to provide information and a history of their struggles and symptoms. They can expect to hear about my counseling style and feel empowered. They will feel validated and supported throughout the therapeutic journey.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

There is not many things that the clients I work with have been through that I have not been through myself, which makes me relatable and highly empathetic. I feel that many clients want to be understood and validated in their feelings.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I first listen to the problem and reframe what they discuss by asking questions to ensure I am tracking. By asking questions, it helps to make the client feel understood and gives me a direction to go.
