Macy Neal is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 7 years of experience. Macy specializes in ADHD, grief, family conflict, oppositional defiance disorder, depression, and anxiety. Macy earned her Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University. She incorporates eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, cognitive behavioral therapy, ART therapy, and family systems approaches into her work to meet each client’s unique needs.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
To Foster individual empowerment and success. To promote mental well-being for all, specifically those struggling or desiring to build more self-confidence and personal understanding of past present and future experiences.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Individuals, teens or families experiencing but not limited, family conflict, grief, depression, anxiety, career development, relationships.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I look forward to engaging with children, individuals and families seeking to foster their own.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I sought to find a space where I am able to lead by practice independently as well as seek guidance for continued professional development to ensure best practice with proven evidenced based practices.
What inspires you?
Learning not to rid oneself of discomfort, but rather learning to ride the wave.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I prefer to schedule the first session fairly quickly after making a connection. This ensures steady progress of goals and session as well a as allows for development of the therapeutic relationship. Weekly sessions often create for best outcomes, however sessions can be scheduled on a case by case basis.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During session one it would be important to establish overall barriers, needs, social determinants of health, etc. An open space to ask questions, formulate ideas, share experiences and goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy cooking, crafting and exercising.
