Why did you decide to become a counselor?
As a young adult, I struggled with coping through stressors and sought therapy for myself. I had such a wonderful therapist that helped me find my authentic self. This experience led me to the desire to help others.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Everyone could benefit from talking their issues and problems out with someone. It makes the world feel less heavy when we can share our thoughts and feelings while getting feedback that helps us grow.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks because I could relate to their mission of making therapy more accessible for all.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people, nature, my faith and spirituality. I am inspired change. Not all change is bad, and people can do great things.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My goal in the first session is to build rapport because I am essentially a stranger and I know that a relationship needs to build in order for trust to be established. I want clients that I am working with to feel comfortable and free to express themselves.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Establish rapport and identify goals and outcomes the client is wanting to achieve. This gives us a map to work with in future sessions.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend time with my family, read, and during the warm months, I like to garden and just be outside in the sun.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I value time. I know how upsetting it can be when you have an appointment, and the provider is running behind or habitually late. I value my client's time and I work for them so clients can expect me to be there at the prescribed time.
