About Kerry

I’m Kerry Ferguson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience in private practice, school-based counseling, and multidisciplinary behavioral health settings. I provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, emotional distress, behavioral challenges, ADHD, and life transitions. I support clients in developing practical skills, strengthening relationships, and creating greater stability, resilience, and well-being.

My approach integrates evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, and mindfulness, tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I provide a compassionate, collaborative space where clients gain insight, develop effective strategies, and create meaningful, lasting improvements in daily functioning and relationships.

Reaching out for support takes courage, and I value the opportunity to walk alongside clients as they navigate challenges and growth. I strive to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. If you’re ready to begin exploring a path toward healing and wellbeing, I invite you to schedule an appointment.

Get to know Kerry

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I chose to become a counselor because I have always felt a deep desire to help others navigate life’s challenges and find a path toward healing and growth. I am drawn to the opportunity to support people during vulnerable moments, help them recognize their strengths, and provide tools that can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Over the course of my career, I have been honored to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and I continue to find purpose in creating a safe, compassionate space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are seeking support through difficult experiences, personal growth, and life transitions. I have particular experience working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation challenges, behavioral concerns, and changes within family relationships. I value creating a trusting, collaborative relationship where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore their strengths, develop new perspectives, and move toward greater resilience.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish every client knew that therapy is a process, not a quick fix, and that meaningful change takes time, patience, and compassion. Healing does not mean forgetting difficult experiences or never facing challenges again; it means developing a deeper understanding of yourself, building new skills, and learning to navigate life with greater confidence. You do not have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy; the process starts by simply taking that first step.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive space where we begin to get to know one another and explore what brings them to therapy. We will discuss their experiences, strengths, goals, and what they hope to gain from the process. Early sessions focus on building trust, understanding each client’s unique story, and developing a personalized approach to care. Together, we will identify meaningful goals and begin creating practical steps toward lasting change.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the importance of connection, compassion, and meeting people where they are. My experiences supporting individuals and families through difficult seasons of life have shaped my understanding of the courage it takes to seek help and create meaningful change. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that invites openness, selfreflection, and an active willingness to engage in the journey of growth. I strive to provide a safe, supportive space where clients feel valued and empowered to develop insight, strengthen skills, and create meaningful change in their lives.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Every client brings a unique story, perspective, and set of strengths to therapy. I take time to understand each person’s experiences, what has shaped them, and what they hope to change or improve. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy by combining evidencebased techniques with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and collaboration. Together, we identify goals, explore patterns, build skills, and create a path forward that feels realistic and meaningful for each client.
