About Kayley
I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with 12 years of experience in the mental health field. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and older adults, with a primary focus on early adolescence through adulthood. I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, trauma, suicidal ideation, and substance use concerns.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Capella University. I began my career working in group homes with adults with disabilities and later completed my graduate internship at a psychiatric hospital, where I worked with clients requiring higher levels of outpatient and inpatient care.
Listening is one of the most powerful tools in therapy. I provide a supportive, personalized approach that allows you the space and time to process your experiences at your own pace. Therapy is your journey, and I am here to guide and support you as you work toward a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

"As someone who experienced personal loss at a young age, I have an understanding of how impactful this pain can be and how empowering and beautiful it is to build the skills to live a life without that pain holding us back."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I found passion in working with adults with intellectual disabilities and recognizing how much support they needed in terms of behaviors, mental health support, and medication management. Sadly, some of these individuals do not have any loved ones to provide any support to them so I felt like this was a field I had to be apart of so I could help make a difference whether big or small.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I have experience with work all age ranges from child to geriatrics. I frequently work with all age ranges so will continue work best with all age ranges. However, since I have a huge background in working in ABA and group homes I do work well with individuals that have autism, have a learning disability, intellectual disability, and even memory loss.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It takes time. As humans we want instant gratification and therapy is not instant. You have to be willing to be open to the process and willing to allow the process to work over time.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first session will be for us to get to know each other and for us to determine what your goal and overcome of therapy is and how you and I can/will achieve that together. In our early stages, I do spend more time building rapport and getting to understand you as the client so that I can tailor our sessions to best fit you. This could even something as simple knowing that you prefer a specific background on my screen as that helps calm you.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I want this experience to be about the client as I know therapy can be uncomfortable, difficult, hard, bring up feelings and thoughts that have been pushed down or just unenjoyable. If the client tells me in the assessment that they prefer darker rooms, than I may turn my lights down during the session or if they tell me that a specific color helps calm them than maybe I will add that to my background during their sessions to help remind them that they have a calm safe space while in our session.
