Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Becoming a counselor was my choice for a profession because I grew up in less than ideal circumstances where poverty and a broken home was my reality. There were many Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), I was exposed to including substance use/abuse and Domestic Violence. The environmental factors that resulted in a need to overcome if I was to survive. I did! Despite the challenges I was subject to as a young black child showed me that any problem that we are willing to identify/name can be overcome. Becoming a clinical counselor provided me with the very unique position/opportunity to represent HOPE and to bear witness that where there is will and determination and an openness to do the work necessary to support positive change, there is the possibility for healing !!!!! Take the next step!

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks offers the flexibility often needed by patients who do not engage in therapy because hours are not available to accommodate their work schedule or other demands that take them off the traditional schedule options. This means that clients have greater access to much needed mental health care.
