My name is Kelly Summitt and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have worked with individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, domestic violence, trauma, personality disorders, and other mental health concerns. I have worked with both adolescents and adults. I work with individuals who want to improve their emotional wellbeing and decrease the impact of trauma or other mental health concerns on their daily life. I enjoy working with individuals collaboratively to meet their goals.
While my approach primarily consists of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, I utilize an eclectic approach and will incorporate other methods into practice to meet an individual’s needs. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic relationship and value input and feedback from the individual I am working with.
Therapy can often be overwhelming initially, so I commend you for taking that first step and reaching out. I look forward to meeting you and working with you on achieving your goals.

"As someone who has had to rebuild their life after trauma and loss, I understand the importance of finding your authentic self and living a life you love."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Clients I work best with are individuals who know they want to heal from whatever is holding them back.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It is a journey and not linear, but the work is worth it.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Collaboration. We will work together to establish goals and what they want to accomplish from therapy.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I have had to learn to live after trauma and loss and how to heal.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor the therapy to meet each client’s needs by getting their input on what their needs are.
