Dr. Katrina Pakonen-Hueber is a Licensed Clinicial Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist with 24 years of experience. She specializes in supporting clients managing mood disorders, stress, ADHD, and depression. Dr. Pakonen-Hueber has worked with clients in inpatient, outpatient, and school settings, serving diverse populations across urban, suburban, and rural communities. She is dedicated to providing individualized, evidence-based care to support each client’s unique needs.
Dr. Pakonen-Hueber earned her Ph.D in School Psychology from Illinois State University. She uses a comprehensive and personalized approach to care, integrating therapeutic techniques and psychological assessments to help clients gain clarity, develop coping skills, and achieve their personal goals.
Dr. Pakonen-Hueber is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive space where clients feel comfortable and empowered. She looks forward to helping clients identify their goals, build on their strengths, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a therapist because I truly love meeting people, providing a welcoming, safe, listening, and truly accepting environment, such that all of my clients can recognize their strengths.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I love working with children and adolescents, and truly enjoy consulting with parents and guardians to help improve familial communication.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am truly excited to work with children and adolescents, but I do not know any person that I would not love to work with!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish every client knew they are worthy of being heard, and recognized their internal strengths.

What inspires you?
I am truly delighted as I think back upon initial interactions with clients, and noticing progress in time. It is so inspiring to see my clients recognize their worth and strengths, and ultimately thrive.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Within your first session, you will find a warm welcome into a comfortable space, with no judgement, which will allow us to establish a therapeutic relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Within our first session, we will discuss your concerns, and will work together to understand your concerns, allowing us to collaboratively establish your therapeutic goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am a very warm and kind person, and I truly seek to establish a relationship with every person I meet.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love reading, and spending time with my wonderful family. When the weather is agreeable, I love spending time in the gardens, and enjoy swimming.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a truly kind, understanding person, even if you have imperfections. I truly believe that we all have imperfections, and are worthy of acceptance.
