Get to know JoLeann
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I am one of those people who truly love supporting others in succeeding. Prior to being a counselor, I held leadership positions in healthcare settings. I found myself enjoying watching my team flourish, even in times that meant they moved on from their position. I became a counselor through my passion for supporting others and through my admiration of the mental health science.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew just how impactful inner thoughts are to mental health.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
After years of experience in human services, I learned how important mental health is to our wellbeing. I choose to work at Thriveworks because I believe in making mental health care more accessible.
What inspires you?
I find so much inspiration in my children. I have two children: a self-identified artist, and a naturally kinesthetic child. Watching how they apply their passions and skills to life sparks joy in me.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I set out to ensure my client feels supported and educated about the therapeutic process before ending the first session.
