About Erin

Erin is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has 8 years of clinical experience with mental health and substance abuse treatment. She is better able to understand how prevalent the relationship is between substance abuse, trauma history, and marginalization. Erin's foundation in education deepens her perspective and understanding of how a client, just as a student, is a human first. With a humanistic perspective, Erin compassionately listens to her client's story. Her experience helps facilitate skill building to encourage confidence to make personal change toward improved symptom management and recovery.

Erin has a Master's in Education and a Professional Educator's License. Erin has worked in a variety of treatment levels, including inpatient, outpatient, schools, and residential environments, has given Erin a broader perspective on how integrative collaboration works within a complex mental health treatment model. I have worked with clients/patients who have a variety of diagnoses, presenting symptoms and problems. Implementing differentiated therapeutic modalities across diverse levels of functioning in individual and group settings has made their counseling interventions more effective and sensitive to different populations, experiences, and identities.

Erin is passionate about working with underprivileged populations. Erin finds meaning as a therapist who serves those who have experienced chronic trauma and substance abuse as well as providing support and encouragement to children who have faced adverse experiences. Erin's experience can offer clients effective and therapeutic mental health and substance abuse treatment. Please consider investing in your health and happiness today.

Get to know Erin

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

Growing up, I was independent and had limited supports available to me in the home. When my father passed away, I did not know how to seek help at school. Over the years, I have learned how to use coping and communication skills to express my thoughts and feelings and develop supportive relationships. Wanting to help others find their voice, to be there to listen to their story, and encourage clients to become proactive and skill to lead a healthier, more fulfilling life is a personal passion.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Every client is a person who has a story, who has value, and who deserves happiness and to live their best life. Counseling is a collaborative partnership, so the clients that have the most success are those who are ready to engage in the process of therapy.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with clients who have not realized their worth, their strengths, their own ability to resolve their problems, and can identify the solutions and path toward their goals.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish clients knew that they have all the power within themselves to develop to skills to meet their needs and wants.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I choose to practice at Thriveworks because of the support, guidance, and training available to me while also reciprocating the space for my independence.

What inspires you?

Seeing people try their best, hearing people share loving and positive words, feeling human connection, and doing what I can to learn and experience the most of what the world has to offer all inspire me to do my best.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Exploring and learning how the counseling relationship can encourage healing and growth that is specific toward your personal goals in the foundation of a first session.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I believe people are human first and I accept where you are at this point in your life, and will meet you where you are to help you facilitate change in your life.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

Respecting each person's value and worth is the foundation to how I see others, in and out of the office.
