Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Growing up, I was independent and had limited supports available to me in the home. When my father passed away, I did not know how to seek help at school. Over the years, I have learned how to use coping and communication skills to express my thoughts and feelings and develop supportive relationships. Wanting to help others find their voice, to be there to listen to their story, and encourage clients to become proactive and skill to lead a healthier, more fulfilling life is a personal passion.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Every client is a person who has a story, who has value, and who deserves happiness and to live their best life. Counseling is a collaborative partnership, so the clients that have the most success are those who are ready to engage in the process of therapy.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who have not realized their worth, their strengths, their own ability to resolve their problems, and can identify the solutions and path toward their goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish clients knew that they have all the power within themselves to develop to skills to meet their needs and wants.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice at Thriveworks because of the support, guidance, and training available to me while also reciprocating the space for my independence.
What inspires you?
Seeing people try their best, hearing people share loving and positive words, feeling human connection, and doing what I can to learn and experience the most of what the world has to offer all inspire me to do my best.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Exploring and learning how the counseling relationship can encourage healing and growth that is specific toward your personal goals in the foundation of a first session.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I believe people are human first and I accept where you are at this point in your life, and will meet you where you are to help you facilitate change in your life.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Respecting each person's value and worth is the foundation to how I see others, in and out of the office.
