About Tonya
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 12 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of mental health concerns and life transitions. I work with children and adolescents, including those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, as well as couples seeking to improve communication and strengthen their connection. I also support women navigating identity changes, major life transitions, and adjustments during the empty-nest stage.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Walden University. My approach to counseling is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I strive to create a safe, supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and encouraged as they work toward meaningful growth and positive change.
Reaching out for support can feel like a courageous and vulnerable step, and you do not have to take it alone. I am here to listen, support, and walk alongside you as we explore a path forward that feels right for you. Together, we can focus on your well-being and help you feel seen, heard, and supported as you move toward healing and personal growth.

"Throughout my life, I’ve learned that all experiences are part of the journey. No matter the circumstances that come my way, I choose to focus on the good and always enjoy the ride."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Long before credentials and formal training, I discovered the quiet power of listening with care. People I cared about trusted me with their stories, knowing they would be met with understanding and without judgment. Through these moments, I came to appreciate how deeply healing it can be to feel truly seen and heard. I chose to become a counselor because I have witnessed how compassion, presence, and a safe therapeutic relationship can gently create meaningful change. Becoming a counselor allows me to walk alongside others on their life journey, offering support as they reconnect with their strengths, find hope, and move toward healing.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open and ready for change—those who are willing to actively engage in the process and do the work both in and outside of the therapeutic space to create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew about therapy is that it is a process, and that’s okay. Change takes time, and there is no rush. Even the smallest steps forward matter. Those moments of growth and the quiet victories along the way are meaningful, and they deserve to be celebrated and honored throughout the therapeutic journey.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During our first session, we will take time to get to know one another. I will help you understand what the therapeutic process looks like and what you can expect moving forward. Beginning therapy is a big step, and sharing personal, intimate parts of your life with someone new can feel vulnerable and challenging. As we begin your therapeutic journey, you will be encouraged to move at your own pace. Building trust and rapport is essential to a meaningful and supportive therapeutic relationship.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I value honesty and authenticity, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel comfortable being their true selves. It is important to me that you feel free to share openly and speak your truth, knowing you will be met with understanding and without judgment.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Therapy is a client-centered and collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and your voice guides the direction of our work together. My role is to support and walk alongside you as a guide, offering insight and encouragement along the way. From the very beginning, we will focus on what matters most to you and what works best for you, making adjustments together as your needs and goals evolve
