About Tameka

I am Tameka Scott, MA, a licensed counselor  dedicated to helping individuals, adolescents, and families navigate life's challenges. I have experience supporting clients struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem issues, life transitions, relationship concerns, behavioral challenges, and emotional regulation. I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, develop healthy coping skills, improve communication, and build resilience. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain insight, achieve personal growth, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Trauma focused -cognitive behavioral therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and achieve personal goals. Clients can expect a supportive, collaborative environment focused on growth, resilience, and lasting positive change.

Seeking support is a courageous step, and you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you are facing difficult emotions, life transitions, or personal struggles, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space for growth and healing. I invite you to take the next step toward the positive change you deserve.

Get to know Tameka

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I am passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges and recognize their strengths. I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can feel heard, understood, and empowered. Seeing individuals overcome obstacles, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives is deeply rewarding. I am honored to walk alongside clients on their journey toward healing, personal growth, and improved well-being.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adolescents, adults, and families who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives. I enjoy supporting clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and behavioral difficulties. I also work well with individuals seeking to develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen communication, and build resilience as they work toward personal growth and overall wellbeing.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not a linear process. Growth often includes setbacks, challenges, and moments of uncertainty, but those experiences do not mean you are failing. Therapy is a space to learn, grow, and develop new ways of coping while gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. Meaningful change takes time, and every step forward, no matter how small, is progress worth recognizing.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment during their first session. We will discuss your concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy so I can better understand your needs. The early stages of therapy focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship, identifying patterns that may be contributing to challenges, and developing a personalized plan to support your growth, healing, and overall wellbeing. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and empowered throughout the process.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is guided by the values of compassion, empathy, respect, and authenticity. I believe every person has the capacity for growth and resilience, even during life's most challenging moments. My experiences working with diverse individuals and families have reinforced the importance of meeting clients where they are, without judgment. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to make meaningful changes that align with their goals and values.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy by recognizing that each client brings unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. I take time to understand each individual's needs and collaborate with them to develop a personalized treatment approach.
