Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor because I enjoy making connections with others and helping them through their challenges. The thought of coming to therapy and being vulnerable with a stranger can be intimidating, but my goal is to create an environment that promotes growth and self-empowerment. I also decided to become a counselor because each client is unique and the strategies utilized can be tailored to their specific need(s).
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adult clients aged 18+.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with adults who are in need of effective coping strategies and communication skills.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
We all deserve grace and space to process our thoughts, feelings, and behavior(s) no matter how positive or negative they are.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because the company supports its clinicians in maintaining healthy work/life balance. I value having flexibility to ensure each patient receives the care they need. I also chose Thriveworks because the administration is collaborative and responds quickly to resolve issues.
What inspires you?
What inspires me is watching clients transform into the version of themselves they described. Hearing someone identify themselves as depressed and assisting them in achieving their goal to find peace through hobbies, spending time with loved ones, etc., is what inspires me because we all have something we can aspire to.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a relaxed conversation where we are getting to know one another and their goals for therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I want to determine what the client's concerns and goals are.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that when I say "No Judgment Zone" I truly mean that. Clients that are present and willing to do the work are already going in the right direction. Healing is not a perfect journey, some days will be tougher than others but you have support and people who want to see you win.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy going to the park, hiking, listening to music and dancing.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am self-reflective. I appreciate the value of being self-reflective because that allows me to make the best decisions in the present and future.
