Get to know Stephanie

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I grew up in a home that experienced mental health, substance, and abuse cycles. I also have a special needs son who was diagnosed with ADHD, and other behavior disorders. Watching the struggles of my family to break the familiar cycles of abuse and mental health issues and working with my son brought the mental health field directly into my focus.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Adolescents are the most exciting to work with as you never know which side of the adolescent personality you will see on a given visit.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

There is always hope if you are willing to do the work needed.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I believe Thriveworks offered online counseling that is a flexible and convenient option that allows me to meet with my clients.

What inspires you?

Hope for change. Working with individuals who may have experienced major trauma or debilitating issues and showing them how to move forward and live their best life.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

I want my clients to feel like they can have a conversation with a trusted friend and advisor.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

To develop a relationship and a trust with me so that we can begin to build and develop their goals for what they want from counseling.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I work with wood building special items for friends and family.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I believe that goals can be reached through first starting the work.
