Get to know Melissa
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Melissa decided to become a counselor because of her early life experiences. During her childhood years, Melissa's immediate cultural environment lacked awareness of the benefits and deemed it as negative. As a young adult, Melissa tried therapy and was pleased with the outcome. Later, Melissa's work role consisted of interdepartmental collaboration with mental health teams for patient care. Melissa became inspired by that experience and proceeded to become credentialed.
