About Marva
Marva Calder is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 22 years of experience. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other conditions in adults and seniors.
Marva earned her Master's degree in Nursing from Walden University. She offers telepsychiatry as well as evidenced-based therapeutic practices. Marva also provides holistic psychiatric care, patient and family-centered and compassionate care in order to improve each client's quality of life. She has had the privilege of working in a variety of practice areas, including psychiatric emergency rooms, medical departments, and psychiatric care units.
Marva's objective is to assist every client in then set way possible, while working to remove the stigma associated with mental health conditions. There should be no stigma attached to getting treatment. Marva looks forward to teaming together with you to help you find relief.

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
Working in the mental health field as a PMHNP provider provides opportunities to assist others with life-changing support. You can offer a passion for mental health awareness because many people struggle to understand their personal psychology. Compassion inspires hope and teaches the skills needed to overcome challenges.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
The client needs to be reassured that they can change their lives by learning the necessary coping mechanism skills and how to transform negative thoughts into positive behaviors to live a more fulfilled life. There is hope; therefore, do not give up. "YOU GOT THIS. "
What inspires you?
Because of my personal experience with loved ones affected by mental illness, I feel called to pursue a career in mental health care provider. Moreover, I hope to help end the stigma towards those who seek help for mental health challenges. Having a significant responsibility for the well-being of others motivates me to devote so much time and effort to the field of mental illness.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My clients will anticipate a nonjudgmental and empathetic attitude throughout the session. I take pride in treating the whole patient instead of simply the symptom or condition.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in my free time. I enjoy spending time in the kitchen baking with my grandson. In addition, I love to hike, meditating, and taking my three dogs for walks in the park.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Non-judgmental attitude and empathy. I love dancing and laughter.
