Get to know Marva

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?

Working in the mental health field as a PMHNP provider provides opportunities to assist others with life-changing support. You can offer a passion for mental health awareness because many people struggle to understand their personal psychology. Compassion inspires hope and teaches the skills needed to overcome challenges.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

The client needs to be reassured that they can change their lives by learning the necessary coping mechanism skills and how to transform negative thoughts into positive behaviors to live a more fulfilled life. There is hope; therefore, do not give up. "YOU GOT THIS. "

What inspires you?

Because of my personal experience with loved ones affected by mental illness, I feel called to pursue a career in mental health care provider. Moreover, I hope to help end the stigma towards those who seek help for mental health challenges. Having a significant responsibility for the well-being of others motivates me to devote so much time and effort to the field of mental illness.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

My clients will anticipate a nonjudgmental and empathetic attitude throughout the session. I take pride in treating the whole patient instead of simply the symptom or condition.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in my free time. I enjoy spending time in the kitchen baking with my grandson. In addition, I love to hike, meditating, and taking my three dogs for walks in the park.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

Non-judgmental attitude and empathy. I love dancing and laughter.
