Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My grandfather was a social worker in the 1930s and returned to the field in the 1960s. As a child, I watched him help others and later heard heartfelt stories from his clients. Their gratitude left a lasting impression on me—and sparked my desire to become a helper too.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I support clients facing burnout, grief, negative thoughts, and emotionally overwhelmed and/or maintaining sobriety.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I’m passionate about helping people with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem and have sustained recovery over time.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
People sometimes ask why I’ve pursued so many certifications. Some were part of my doctoral journey, guided by my advisory committee. Others came from real-life experience—like working in a substance abuse clinic—where I wanted to deepen my skills to better help the people I served.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by the resilience of people navigating change—whether it’s grief, transitions, cultural shifts, or emotional overwhelm. My grandfather’s work as a social worker first sparked my interest in helping others, and my own journey through parenting, career change, and living abroad has deepened my empathy and passion for this work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first few sessions, we’ll discuss your goals and expectations, assess where you are emotionally, and begin charting a path forward—together.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In our initial session, we will do assessments to gain a benchmark that can be used to check future progress with the treatment plan goals we formulate.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
My approach is grounded in compassion and curiosity. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences and begin to rediscover your strengths.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Play with my cats and my miniature schnauzer dog; container gardening such as fairy gardens.
