Why did you decide to become a counselor?
My goal has always been to dismantle the negative stereotypes associated with mental health. My passion is to provide my clients with the tools they need to maneuver through different obstacles within their everyday life.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Your well-being is our priority. I'm here to provide a road map to help navigate you through your journey.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks provides me the opportunity to serve different people from different communities who've experienced different walks of life. I'm not limited by location/demographics. Thriveworks also provides me the space to meet my client's where they are mentally and physically via remote.
What inspires you?
Eliminating the different stigmas surrounding mental health and counseling truly motivates me. By being an active listener while providing empathetic feedback creates a positive and safe therapeutic environment. Constantly showing up for my clients while watching them grow provides a sense of purpose.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Within the first session, clients can expect conversations and activities providing the opportunity to get to know each other and build a rapport. It is important to remember that therapy is a process. It is utilized to provide clients with life-long solutions. This is not a "quick fix" and cannot be achieved within 1-2 sessions.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Rapport building is very important for the therapeutic relationship. During the first individual session, I would like to work on establishing a good rapport as well as allowing the client to identify different goals that they would like to achieve throughout the therapeutic journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
My goal is to always ensure that you feel safe and heard. While doing this, it is important to remember that growth requires mobility. As a counselor, my goal is to ease you away from your comfort zones with the hopes of you coming closer to reach your therapeutic goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to travel. It's so much fun stepping outside of your comfort zone to explore the unknown. There is so much "world" out there just waiting to be discovered. Traveling also provides me the opportunity to experience diversity and different cultures.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am consistent in all areas of life. I believe that in order to build stability while continuing to grow, consistency is a key factor.
