Get to know Kathy

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

Since I was a child, I just wanted to help people with problems. I always loved psychology and understanding how mindsets, behaviors, and attitudes develop. It is my true joy to help you live a better life, learn and apply new concepts, and heal.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I love any client, of any age or background, who is ready to make changes, will be honest with me and themselves, and do the work it takes to improve. You have to work at least twice as hard as I am working in order to get better.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish every client knew that I am not judging them. I am here to help, I can't help if you are not honest. No matter what you tell me, I will accept you and continue to help you on your journey. Additionally, I want people to tell me if I am not being helpful or if I get it wrong. My true heart's desire is to help you. If I am not doing that, let's talk about it! Therapy is a safe, open place for communication. It is a great place to practice communication skills. Whatever is not working for you in therapy is just as important as what is working. Anything you have to say, I am here for it.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During our first session, I will learn about you and your history. You will not have tell me too many details until you feel more comfortable with me. We will spend time developing rapport, setting goals, and getting comfortable with each.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love music and concerts. I love listening to new bands and artists and seeing as many of them live as I can. You can usually find me down front. I also enjoy thrifting, doing puzzles, traveling, and having fun with clothes and makeup.
