About Johnnie
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 11 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and families through life transitions, identity development, and emotional regulation. I frequently work with neurodivergent individuals, including those with attention-deficit and autism spectrum concerns, as well as clients navigating anxiety, trauma, executive functioning challenges, and relationship stress.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and practical, blending evidence-based therapy with real-life skill building to support emotional regulation, structure, and sustainable personal growth.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about what comes next, you do not have to navigate it alone. Therapy can be a supportive space to gain clarity, build confidence, and move forward at your own pace. I welcome the opportunity to support you on your journey

"As a clinician shaped by lived experience, resilience, and personal struggle, I bring an authentic understanding of how identity, adversity, and real-world challenges intersect—and I use a strengths-based, culturally responsive approach to help clients build practical skills, reclaim confidence, and move forward with purpose."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because my own life experiences showed me how powerful it can be to have someone who truly listens, understands context, and helps translate struggle into growth. I was drawn to this work as a way to combine compassion with practical support—helping people make sense of their experiences, build skills, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents, young adults, and families who are navigating transitions, identity development, and emotional or executive functioning challenges. I am especially effective with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD or autism, and with individuals seeking practical tools, structure, and support to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create sustainable change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing isn’t about being “fixed” or having everything figured out—it’s about building understanding, skills, and self-compassion over time, and progress often comes from small, consistent steps rather than sudden breakthroughs.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session and early stages of therapy, clients can expect a collaborative, low-pressure space focused on getting to know the whole person—not just a diagnosis. We’ll explore your goals, strengths, challenges, and interests, while also discussing what you hope to gain from therapy, so we can build a supportive, practical plan that fits who you are and where you want to go.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is informed by lived experience, resilience, and a strong belief in meeting people as whole, capable individuals rather than as diagnoses. I value authenticity, cultural awareness, and practical growth, and I bring these into therapy by creating a space where clients feel understood, empowered, and supported in building skills that align with their values and real-life goals.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by taking time to understand each client’s story, strengths, culture, interests, and challenges, then adapting interventions to fit their goals, learning style, and pace. Therapy is collaborative and flexible, ensuring support feels relevant, practical, and aligned with what truly works for each individual.
