She utilizes a collaborative and integrative counseling approach which includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT,) solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to address and ameliorate emotional issues and concerns.

"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion."

-bell hooks; author, educator, social activist.

Get to know Jill

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

People are important to me. I want to ensure that someone feels listened to and respected, has a safe space to share his or her deepest concerns, and knows that the person and the quality of life lived is deserved and matters very much to me.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I best serve clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem and/or relationship issues, as well as those who have experienced trauma or grief.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with clients who are in life transitions, whether young adults growing in independence or aging adults who may need additional support with life changes.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion." bell hooks, author, educator, social activist. It is difficult to ask for help but necessary for our very being.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks offers the caring and open-arms culture that I strive to provide for my clients. Their investment in me allows me to be my best clinical self for my patient to heal, grow, and thrive.

What inspires you?

Growth inspires me! Change is HARD, so to experience someone doing the work to be the best self is both humbling and awe-inspiring.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

I strive to present a safe and comfortable environment to put clients at ease while talking about their authentic selves. In addition to sharing what brings them into therapy, we begin to establish a collaborative relationship in which we address their concerns and goals for treatment

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

We will discuss what brings them into counseling, explore these concerns and issues as well as what they feel can or needs to be different to be at their best, and talk about steps to move toward comfort and success.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

It is important to me that clients feel safe with me and that we address directly any issues that come up during assessment and/or treatment despite how difficult.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love spending time with my family and (re)decorating our home as well as reading, gardening, and going to baseball games at the local university.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

Lover of books.
