What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
A quote from Maya Angelou comes to mind, "Every storm runs out of rain." Things can get better, but it will happen quicker if we seek support and put in effort to change our situation versus sitting in a puddle complaining that we're wet.
What inspires you?
Nature, seeing my daughter grow, heal, and navigate her teenage years, the small profound ways that others can have consideration and kindness for each other, and the a-ha moment that you can get from learning about the world around us.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Therapeutically, I'm a meat and potatoes therapist. I want to dive in and see what the issues are. Also any clients should expect to leave a session with me with homework or a follow-up assignment to help continue the work outside of the sessions.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
More than anything, I want to accomplish an understanding of each other. I want to know what my client is looking for, and I want my client to know who I am and how I operate. I always like to check in at the end of a session to see if they feel like we're a good fit and would like to continue to work together.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I'm a single mom, so my kid and I are usually running around to various activities. I also love to play board games, read, and spend time with friends and family.
