Get to know Janae

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I have a passion to help others. I have personally experienced how transformative counseling was for myself and others, and felt driven to pursue a career where I can provide safe and encouraging spaces for people.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Clients who are motivated and fully embrace the counseling process. I love to co-create the growth and healing process with my clients.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I’m excited to work with clients who are ready to look inward and work together to create changes in their life.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Everyone can gain something from counseling!

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because they prioritize optimal client care and value client accessibility to mental health services.

What inspires you?

It’s inspiring to witness others thrive and reach their full potential despite experiencing adversity.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Clients can expect an introduction to the counseling process, a discussion of counseling goals, and the building of a therapeutic relationship.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I hope to answer any questions a client may have about the counseling process and gain an understanding of what brought them to counseling.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

Clients should know that I am fully committed to finding the best way to help them and make a difference in their lives.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy trying new restaurants, singing/playing instruments, and catching up on a good TV show.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I live by this motto: “Regardless of what else you put on, wear love.”

Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?

I once worked with a client who had experienced significant trauma and was experiencing difficulty functioning day-to-day near the beginning of our work together. By the end of our work, she left with more self-confidence and had taken actions to create changes in her life. I am very honored to have worked with her.
