Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychologist because I want to help people become the best version of themselves and learn ways to lead their best life.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adults who are open to trying talk therapy. They recognize that something isn't working in their life and are open to collaborating with me to better understand their situation and identify possible changes.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are open to sharing vulnerable parts of themselves and willing to try different approaches than what they have been using.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that they don't have to earn their worth. They are already worthy just for existing.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to expand the types of clients I was able to serve.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people's ability to engage in the therapy process. For many it isn't easy to show vulnerability and challenge stigma surrounding mental health treatment.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, clients can expect me to work to better understand their situation, problem, strengths, and challenges. We will likely talk about the treatment plan and what they can expect from our work together.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I want to start building our therapeutic relationship, outline what our treatment may look like, and help my client find hope for improvement in their situation.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I want potential clients to know I am here to help them figure out how to proceed on their journey, not to judge or to tell them what to do, but to help them figure out what to do.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to spend my free time with my spouse where we take walks in nature, travel to find some of the best bakeries in our area, and laugh.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am defined by my value of working to live life fully.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
My most successful clients have been those who have learned to better trust themselves, make the changes that were best for them, and live the life they want. They learned skills to navigate the difficulties of life and to value themselves more.
