Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I wanted to find a career that allowed me to use creativity, empathy and compassion, as well as problem solving skills to make a difference in my community. Becoming a therapist allows me to do that by helping individuals, couples, and families to create lasting change in their lives, allowing them to positively impact their own community and family systems.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I work best with highly motivated clients who bring their own collaborative energy to understand current patterns and stressors and work as a team to create helpful strategies to break unwanted behavioral or relationship cycles.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew was that their feelings, their story, and their goals are important. Therapy is a space that allows you to feel your feelings and reframe unhelpful beliefs with a non-judgmental professional who is trained to help you achieve goals you have for yourself.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work at Thriveworks to be a part of a team atmosphere that is genuinely compassionate and collaborative to make one another, and our clients, better.
What inspires you?
My clients inspire me. Everyday I’m reminded of how resilient we are and that making small adjustments, we can overcome big problems.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
By the end of our first session, I hope clients feel excited and hopeful to return to their next session. I hope clients experience a genuine feeling of care and non-judgment in my office and look forward to their next appointment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I aim to understand contributing factors to current stressors and collaborate with clients to develop a set of attainable treatment goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to travel—it provides the opportunity for me to get outside of my comfort zone, meet new people, and try new things. I’m a huge movie and tv fan. Spending time with friends and family helps recharge my batteries, especially playing games or sharing a meal together.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
It was instilled in me from an early age to make this world a better place than how I found it. On days when I have a hard time finding the good, I strive to be the good I wish to see in the world.
