About Dashawna

I'm Dashawna Anderson, a Doctor of Social Work and licensed clinical social worker. I am passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, career stress, and domestic violence. As a Christian African American woman, I provide a compassionate and supportive space where clients feel heard and empowered. I use person-centered, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, psychotherapy, and faith-based approaches to help clients build confidence and develop healthy coping skills.

I use a compassionate, person-centered approach that integrates motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, psychotherapy, and faith-based counseling when desired.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. I'm here to walk alongside you with compassion, understanding, and support as you work toward healing and growth. When you're ready, I welcome you to begin your journey toward a more grounded and fulfilling life.

Get to know Dashawna

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a therapist because I've always had a deep passion for helping people navigate life's challenges and creating an environment that is safe and empowering. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural calling for me.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who are seeking a supportive and nonjudgmental space to process life's challenges and create meaningful change. I value working with clients who are ready to explore personal growth and emotional wellness.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing takes time as well as that seeking support through therapy is a sign of strength.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Clients can expect their first session with me to be a welcoming and supportive space when they can begin sharing their story at a pace that is comfortable for them.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice as a therapist is deeply informed by my Christian faith, which influences the way that I approach care and service to others. For clients who desire it, I am able to integrate faith-based counseling into the therapeutic process in a way that aligns with their beliefs and values.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I take the time to understand each client's background, values, personality, strengths, and what they hope to gain from therapy so that our work together feels personalized and meaningful.
