Get to know Catherine

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have always wanted to be a therapist- it is the only career I have ever wanted. It is my passion. I love making people feel welcome in a healing space, holding their hand as long as they need me to, and then cheer when they let go.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with adolescents, and am very comfortable with working with adults of all ages.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with all my clients! Every person brings their own experience, their own history with their own triumphs and disappointments. Every client has a story to tell and live.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Imagine a pond with all kinds of fish in it that are your emotions and saw anxiety, fear, anger, happiness, sadness, love, etc swimming around. You are not the fish. You are the pond.

What inspires you?

Strength inspires me because it can be found in everyone, regardless of their life circumstances.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

I will provide as much space as I can for you to tell your story as well as ask a lot of questions so that I can get to know you as well as one can in an hour's time.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to provide unconditional positive regard for my client so they feel heard and seen. I want them to feel safe with me.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I do not want to answer this question.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to cook and bake, spend time with family and friends, and go cruising! Cathy loves to hit that sail away party and do all the line dances!

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I try to not take life too seriously. I like to have fun and make people laugh.
