Why did you decide to become a counselor?
When I was working as a Dorm Counselor at a residential school for at-risk youth, I made a good connection with many of the students that trusted me to listen to them and help them with their problems. A 17 year old girl there inspired me when I decided to work with her creatively with finger paint. She made a picture of a big heart with her footprints on either side. And the picture is hanging on my living room wall to this day!
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have always worked well with adolescents and am open to individual sessions with adults!
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with clients that are open to creativity i.e., writing, journaling, poetry, songwriting, rapping, etc.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That therapy is a process and counselors guide them to understand that they have the answers to their problems.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I have always preferred the support of teamwork that is an integral component of Thriveworks.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by creativity, reading good novels, writing poetry, listening to all kinds of music, going to art galleries and watching good movies!
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like the first session to be the foundation for building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
My biggest pleasure is to enjoy outdoor activities and most especially taking my dog for a walk!
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Knowing that with time, I have successfully weathered many storms in my life.
