Hello! My name is Sara and I am a registered mental health counselor intern with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Central Florida. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, or other challenges. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood while working together to develop meaningful goals, build coping skills, and create positive changes in their lives.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, strength-based, and collaborative. I incorporate CBT, DBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Gestalt techniques to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I support clients in building self-awareness, developing coping skills, and recognizing their strengths.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if mental health was rarely discussed in your family or community. You do not have to navigate everything on your own. I hope to provide a space where you feel safe and understood. I am here to meet you with compassion and without judgment. When you feel ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment.

"As a Korean-American therapist, I take a person-centered approach that honors each client’s unique experiences, identity, and story while creating a safe space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because mental health was not something that was openly discussed in my community, and I saw how difficult it can be to navigate challenges without feeling comfortable asking for help. As a KoreanAmerican, I want to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and advocate for greater awareness, understanding, and access to support. I hope to create a safe and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences, knowing that they will be heard, respected, and supported without judgment.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults who may be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, selfesteem concerns, or major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with clients who are looking for a safe, nonjudgmental space to better understand themselves, process their experiences, build healthy coping skills, and feel more confident moving forward. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and meet each person where they are, working collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable for them.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that therapy and the healing process can sometimes feel uncomfortable, and that discomfort does not mean you are doing something wrong. Growth often requires us to challenge familiar patterns, explore difficult emotions, and step outside of our comfort zones. You do not have to have everything figured out—healing is a process, and every step forward matters.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, my priority is to build rapport and create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. I take a clientled approach, meaning we will focus on what feels most important to you and what you are ready to explore. In the early stages of therapy, we will get to know one another, discuss your concerns and goals, and work together to develop an approach that feels right for you. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we will move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
As a 2nd Generation Korean-American, my personal experiences have shaped my understanding of how culture, family, and community can influence the way we view and talk about mental health. Growing up in a community where mental health was not always openly discussed has strengthened my passion for creating a space where clients feel comfortable talking about their experiences without fear of judgment. I value empathy, authenticity, and meeting each person where they are. These values guide me in providing a supportive, culturally sensitive, and client-centered approach to therapy.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to each client by collaborating with them to develop meaningful treatment goals that reflect what they want to work on and accomplish. I regularly check in with clients throughout the therapeutic process to make sure our approach continues to feel helpful and aligned with their needs. Because every client’s experiences and goals are different, I remain flexible and adjust interventions, pace, and focus based on what feels most supportive for each individual.
