About Rachel
Rachel Block-Stewart is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who has over 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents seeking help with life transitions and adjustments, trauma, depression, anxiety, and difficulty coping.
Rachel completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Community Health at the University of Maryland and her Master of Science (MS) in Applied Psychology with a Counseling emphasis at Eastern Washington University. She utilizes client-centered, collaborative, insight-oriented, trauma-informed, mindful, somatic, and expressive approaches to help clients meet their unique needs and goals.
Rachel works closely with each individual and family to provide the support they need to reach their goals. She builds a warm, supportive, and collaborative relationship focused on your unique goals. Rachel works closely with you to provide support and to help you overcome your current struggles, reach your goals, and a live a life of meaning, value, and joy.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I wanted to support and help people navigate challenging moments in their lives. I am always in awe of people's resiliency and ability to navigate and overcome adversity.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Those that are willing and ready to explore who they are and who they want to be.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Those that have gone through adversity, challenge and trauma and feel stuck in moving forward.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That you have the innate ability within you to heal and grow. And that who you are right now is enough.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The support of this group practice is amazing. They really do want to make life better for their clients and employees.
What inspires you?
Watching people explore who they are and learn to forgive, befriend and love themselves.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will explain what you can expect from me, give you the opportunity to ask questions and listen to your story. I always tell people that I will be here with you along this journey, wherever it may take you.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Get to know who they are and how I can help them.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with my family, go for long walks in my neighborhood, read a good book and hopefully find my way to my yoga mat.
