Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
After 10 years as a public school teacher, I sought a career change. The moments I valued most were when I could mentor students and offer a safe space for them during times of distress. Through ongoing education in mental health counseling, I am now able to offer even more support in a focused and specialized way.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I want all clients to recognize that their emotions and thoughts are not only important to them but also to everyone around them. While the tools and content of therapy are valuable, it is the therapeutic relationship that often makes the most significant impact.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
New clients can expect to have a thorough understanding of what therapy entails, feel safe and supported in every session, and leave knowing that there is someone in the world who genuinely cares about their well-being
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I strive to create an environment of safety, trust, and connection during the first session, providing a solid foundation for the work ahead.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my spare time, I love staying active and spending quality time with my daughter, family, and friends. I firmly believe that the true enjoyment in life comes not from what you’re doing, but from who you’re sharing those moments with.
