I am a very experienced, compassionate, and skilled clinician. I have a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. I have been licensed since 2007. I understand how early life events can shape identity and coping strategies and how these can play out to influence current situations. I am adept at helping clients gain insight and resolve past issues to prevent them from continuing to negatively impact the current situation and future events. I help clients find freedom from negative influences of the past and develop healthier and more adaptive perspectives that allow them to be the person they want to be.

I use Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral strategies to help clients gain understanding into how defense mechanisms and beliefs are influencing their relationships with themselves, others, and the world around them. I use EMDR when clients are aware of a negative impact from past experiences or trauma and haven’t been able to overcome the negative effect.

I hope to get to know and understand you, offer new insights and perspectives, and help you move through any unresolved past hurts. I believe that therapy should produce significant and lasting improvements. I have a deep and sincere faith and hope this is evident in our therapeutic relationship. Schedule an appointment and I will meet you where you’re at.

"As one who has experienced many adverse life experiences, I have a deep understanding of the impact and what it takes to rise above the challenges and overcome whatever obstacles life throws at us."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I was always interested in being there for others going back to middle school when I was a peer counselor. I figured that because I had been through some things I would be able to be there for others who were going through things. Later in life I became increasingly interested in mental health and wanted to do what I had a passion for.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who are ready to make real change.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish everyone knew what we as humans are capable of and how to make the best of it.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first session is an information gathering process and early stages are often continuing to get to know and understand and develop goals and plans and possibly educating depending upon the situation. Some move faster than others though.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Having been through some things myself and having been through therapy as well I want to be compassionate and understanding and also offer something that will make a significant difference and be remembered as worthwhile.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I meet people where they’re at and tailor therapy based on what they present.
