About Melissa
I am a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern with 24 years of experience supporting trauma survivors, including those affected by sexual violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, and homicide. I also work with clients managing anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect for each client’s journey. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where humor, vulnerability, and healing can coexist as clients move toward a more fulfilling life.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University. My integrative approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention theory, and a strengths-based perspective. I am trained in eye movement desensitization reprocessing and have experience supporting individuals and caregivers in the neurodivergent community.
Life can feel overwhelming, and we all need community—especially during difficult times. Reaching out for help is a brave step. My goal is to provide a compassionate, empowering space where clients can rediscover their resilience and begin writing new chapters of healing, clarity, and growth.

"My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, supportive environment that will allow you to grow in awareness of yourself and modify the things that create chaos and rigidity in your life, allowing you to optimize your health."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have always had the drive to help people and when faced with challenging times in my own life, I found that working with a therapist who wasn’t involved with the situation brought perspective and insight that helped me find resolution to those challenges. It my personal experiences and drive to help others that I chose this field.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy clients who show up and are open to the process even if they are shaking. I like working with teens all the way up to seniors and everyone in-between!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Kindness, resilience, and seeing people succeed.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session I like to answer any questions a client might have about counseling and establish some goals they want to obtain through our work together. To help them feel comfortable and confident in sharing their story. I also like to make sure I’m getting a holistic view of who they are so a good life history is important. Clients can expect a partner who will meet them where they’re at in a non-judgmental environment where empathy and support drive the process.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I have a deep belief in resilience and the human capacity for grown and learning. My personal experiences have taught me that everyone benefits from empathy, support, and presence. I believe in the power of authenticity and genuine connection to heal and strengthen us. I am committed to creating a space where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered to explore their stories, values, and goals at their own pace.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I work with the client to identify goals and barriers they are experiencing to those goals to create a plan that meets these goals. Throughout the process coming back to the plan and adjusting as new issues arise or are addressed to unsure the plan stays focused.
