Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I've always been fascinated by people and their stories. Hearing people's experiences and how they arrived at the place they are gives me a window into what their lives might be like. I've always wanted to join with people to help them make their lives happier, improve their relationships, and feel good about their choices.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with all my clients! I am so honored to be invited into my clients' inner worlds and to join with them to make things better.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that they aren't alone in their suffering. Making the decision to start therapy is scary for most people, but there are all sorts of therapists and there IS one that can be just the right fit. Clients are the ones "in the driver's seat" and if you feel you don't have the best fit, your therapist's job is to help you find one who is the best fit. This is so common, and doesn't mean there is a problem with you (or the therapist). Just be honest.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I love the model of Thriveworks' practice, that clients can be scheduled quickly and there are so many therapists to choose from. As a therapist, I wanted to join a group of other excited, smart people that I could enjoy working and growing with.
What inspires you?
The idea that things can always be better inspires me to get up, do my best and hopefully leave the world a better pace than I found it every day.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In a first session, clients can expect to learn what the process of therapy is like, learn about me as a therapist, and give me the opportunity to learn the difficulties that bring them to me. I feel it is very important to set all of our expectations right from the start, so there aren't any surprises.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to learn about the difficulties bringing them to therapy, their lives and their expectations for therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I want clients to know that I am a kind, experienced therapist who has worked with people from all walks of life for many years. I am honest and transparent about the process and I take an individualized, eclectic approach to working with each person.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to read, spend time with my family, and medium distance running.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I LOVE to laugh!
