Why did you decide to become a counselor?
In my daily life, I have always had the drive to support and empower others. Upon volunteering with various local organizations and non-profits, I had the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals as well as diverse groups of people whom inspired me. With them, I found true passion and purpose in fostering mental health.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with a diverse range of clients. While I work especially well with adolescents and young adults, I maintain a client-centered approach to therapy such that I can meet all clients where they are.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Therapy is a commendable commitment to oneself and I am most excited to work with clients who are motivated to be active participants in the therapy process.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that therapy is a collaborative process that ebbs and flows. Like life, the therapeutic journey will have ups and downs. By working together, I am able to tailor my clinical approach with clients to foster an optimal space for growth.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks as a place of practice due to a central focus on the client-clinician relationship. Although much of my experience has been in non-profit settings, the private practice nature of Thriveworks provides me with the opportunity to focus more on my clients and set them up for success.
What inspires you?
I am genuinely inspired by the dedication shown by clients. It is a privilege to accompany clients throughout the therapeutic journey. I find it to be truly rewarding to see clients grow and advocate for themselves.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
When meeting with a new client, I focus on ensuring client comfortability and building rapport. The first session is intended to be a starting point where clients and I are able to get to know each other and establish trust.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During the first session, I would like to gain insight on clients' reasons for seeking therapy. I collaborate with clients to identify strengths and goals to establish what they hope to gain from therapy. Together, we will develop a plan to meet those goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Beginning therapy and meeting a new clinician are big steps in taking charge of one's life. I want clients to know that it is okay to feel nervous, scared, or intimidated. All of these feelings are natural and normal, it is healthy to acknowledge them. It is my goal to empower clients throughout the entirety of the therapeutic process.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Some activities that I enjoy in my free time include rollerblading, swimming, going on hikes with my dogs, and playing video games with my family.
