About Arrisha

Hi everyone my name is Arrisha Sharpe , I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker . I have been in this field for ten years where I have worked with individuals who struggled with depression ,anxiety , bipolar different disorders /comorbidities. In my experience there are so many different challenges that impact clients negatively at home and all areas of life. Working alongside the client to overcome maladaptive thoughts and debilitating anxiety. Utilizing Healthy coping skills and talk therapy to restructure thoughts and actions. The client is the expert on themselves and I help provide the tools to explore the healing journey.

Over the years I've used CBT (cognitive behavioral Therapy ) and Humanistic person centered approaches with different individuals . I believe in helping individuals and families restructure their maladaptive thoughts and gain sense of their being. In my experience meeting the individuals or family where they are and encouraging their self determination.

lolI believe the client is the expert on themselves and I will be there to assist you in whatever issues or concerns you may have and the changes that need to be made. In life things are not certain however having a therapist that would be there listening and providing healthy coping skills to improve your current situation is a good step.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become counselor because i saw a need for mental health therapy in the community. I've seen marriages and family end due to lack of healthy communication skills and individuals being misunderstood due to their disability or cognitive skills. I want to be able to get rid of the stigma that plague mental health and allow people to get understand themselves better.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Compliant clients are often the best to work with because they are ready to engage in the healing process and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish clients knew that process is not magic and we have to work together as team to have the best outcome they would like.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The first session expectation we are going to get to know each other and build trust and respect.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

In my past experience i try to meet the client where they are in when it comes to therapy and encourage them to be themselves . Being genuine and respectful builds trust between therapist and client.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I use different therapeutic approaches that matches the clients demeanor and personality.
