About Justyna
Justyna Ferenc is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. Justyna has worked diligently with clients facing challenges with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and substance use. She is enthusiastic about helping others on their personal journey of healing and growth. Justyna completed her Master’s in Marital and Family Therapy at Fairfield University. After graduating, she became a counselor at an intensive residential program where she worked with clients struggling with a myriad of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use.
Justyna's approach to therapy is tailored uniquely to each individual. She uses various evidence-based approaches such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Bowenian family therapy, strategic family therapy, and structural family therapy.
Life is like a puzzle — when all the pieces are in front of you, it’s hard to see a clear picture. With Justyna's help, you will gain a better understanding and view of the way forward through collaboratively putting the pieces together.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I want to be able to provide hope, to let clients know that there are people out there that want to listen to them and not be judged but rather feel accepted and part of a larger community.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open and willing to make changes in their lives. Asking for help can be extremely difficult, making that first step is crucial and I am here to support you and learn more about how I can help.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Indvidual's and couples who are eager to learn more about themselves and willing to take on the challenge of bettering their lives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing that I wish all clients knew is that they do possess a range of coping skills and tools developed throughout their lives, often valuable resources that might not have been utilized at the best time.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks offers the clients and the therapist flexibility to receive treatment online, in person or in the comfort of their own home. Wanting to better your life should not be impacted by scheduling issues.
What inspires you?
What inspires me is being part of my client’s journey as they courageously embrace being vulnerable and open with someone new. I am constantly humbled and deeply grateful for their choice of putting themselves first and seeking out the support that they deserve.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A welcoming, non-judgmental space where they can freely express their goals for therapy. Time and space to build a therapeutic alliance.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
What I would like to accomplish in the first session is to gain historical background regarding the reason why the individual/couple is seeking out help. To build rapport, complete a few essential assessments and start developing therapeutic goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am here to support you wherever you may be on your journey.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Enjoying the outdoors through hiking or running, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am grounded by family and nature.
