About Shayna
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with 7 years of experience helping teens and adults navigate anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and personality-related challenges. My goal is to help clients recognize patterns, build emotional awareness, and develop practical tools for growth. I bring humor, honesty, and compassion into each session, meeting clients where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.
I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College. My approach blends evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and reality therapy with a relational, down-to-earth style. I believe healing happens through connection, accountability, and genuine collaboration.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel uncertain, but you don’t have to do it alone. I strive to create a supportive and empowering space where clients can feel understood, build confidence, and grow at their own pace. Healing begins with the courage to reach out.

"As a clinician who blends warmth, structure, and humor, I help clients understand their patterns, build emotional insight, and develop the tools to create lasting change."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone finally feels heard, understood, and accepted exactly as they are. I wanted to be that person who helps others find hope, build insight, and learn that healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress, connection, and self-compassion.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with teens and adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to make a change but aren’t sure where to start. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, mood swings, trauma, or relationship patterns that keep repeating. I connect best with those who value honesty, humor, and real conversation as we work toward meaningful change.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first session is about getting to know you—what’s working, what’s not, and what brought you here. I’ll ask questions, but I also listen closely. We’ll talk about your goals and what you want to change, at your pace. My goal early on is to build trust, safety, and a sense that you don’t have to do this alone.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Authenticity, humor, and empathy guide my work. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when people feel truly heard and accepted, and I value creating that space for others. My life and professional experiences have shown me that growth often happens in the small moments—through honesty, connection, and courage.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe therapy should fit the person, not the other way around. I adapt my approach based on each client’s goals, personality, and comfort level—blending structure with flexibility. Whether you need practical tools or deeper reflection, we’ll find what works best for you together.
