Hi! My name is Max (they/them) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I specialize in gender-affirming care, substance use, suicidal thoughts, self harm, bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity exploration. My clients are typically seeking to make substantive changes to their life and explore the areas where they are getting stuck.

I start by working on stabilizing the symptoms that are bringing you into treatment and assessing coping tools. Next we develop coping tools that support the changes you want to make. Afterwards we process the origins of the concerns bringing you into treatment. As we go we increase your knowledge of mental health and work towards your personal goals.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my bio, and I am grateful for your consideration. Asking for help is one of the hardest things we can do - I know how hard it has been for me. I promise to bring a nonjudgemental, empathetic presence to help you live a life you feel proud of. If you'd like to see if we're a good fit, feel free to book a session.

"As a neurodivergent nonbinary transgender person, I have gained understanding related to the intersections of various identities and the unique challenges of walking through a world that was not designed for you."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have a passion for helping people that stems from my own experiences of not getting the help that I needed as a young person.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with people who are motivated to make changes in their lives and people who are open to outside feedback.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

It's about progress, not perfection.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

I begin with a great deal of assessment and learning about what my client is bringing into treatment and what they're wanting to get out of treatment.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I have a lot of personal experience with mental health and substance use challenges in my own life and in the lives of my loved ones. I bring the values of acceptance and giving oneself grace.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I learn about who each client is and their unique blend of characteristics, coping skills, and experiences. I utilize many different therapeutic methods because everybody needs something different to help them reach their goals.
