About Jeremy
My professional career spans over 20 years of working in the Denver and Jefferson county community mental health systems, helping Coloradans cope with a range of diagnoses and severities. During that time I have focused on helping people cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, and issues that affect men specifically. I received my master’s degree in counseling from Adams State University, and my undergraduate in social work from Phillips University.
I use the framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to guide discussions to help rethink our situations, challenge our maladaptive beliefs, and move forward with valued actions.
In my personal life, I enjoy skiing, playing guitar, disk golf, going to concerts, and taking care of my dog. I have lived in the Denver area for over 30 years and still love to get out and play, especially if it’s free or in the mountains. If you are in need of someone to talk to I’m always willing to listen.

"I know how difficult it is to find a therapist, so thank you for taking the time to read this."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have enjoyed helping others throughout my career, and continue to find purpose in life by supporting others in the struggles that life presents us. I have employed many therapy skills into my own life and found great benefits. I hope to share these tools and offer a safe place to process and discuss the struggles that you might be experiencing.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I have work extensively with adults who are struggling with trauma and addictions as well as depression, and anxiety.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I feel the therapeutic allience is personal and unique. This relationship is one part of the equation to improving mental health. I consider the time between sessions and the practice a person employs is the action that makes change in our lives.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
I hope to meet someone and get to know the reasons for coming into therapy and the goals they are trying to accomplish. I would hope to meet someone weekly for a preliminary time and then move to less frequent visits due to an increase in skills and decrease in struggles.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I have personally experienced most emotions life can throw at us and I have also had the privilege to help others through their struggles. Although we are all unique, we have to ability to know universal emotions and our similarities are the ingredient for empathy. I hope to offer this to my clients
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
There are several types of therapy and everyone responds differently to the type of therapy being prescribed. I hope to find the style that best fits the person and the struggle. I have worked through several manuals for different therapy styles and feel pairing someone to a modality that is accepted will improve someone's outcome.
