About Jennifer
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 11 years of experience supporting older adults, family caregivers, veterans, and individuals within LGBTQIA2S+ communities. As a Black, queer, lesbian, disabled veteran, I bring both lived experience and clinical expertise to my work. I often support clients navigating life transitions, caregiving stress, trauma, identity concerns, grief, and the emotional weight of long-held experiences.
I earned my Doctorate of Social Work from Tulane University. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, grounded in respect for lived experience. I integrate reflection, meaning-making, and practical coping skills to help clients process trauma, reduce overwhelm, and strengthen self-trust.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you have been carrying a lot for a long time. You do not have to have everything figured out. If you are seeking a thoughtful, nonjudgmental space to reflect, heal, and move forward at your own pace, I would be honored to support you.

"As a Black, queer, lesbian, disabled veteran and aging practitioner, I bring lived experience and clinical care to create a nonjudgmental, collaborative space where clients can reflect on their life experiences, share their stories, uncover meaning, and build practical skills to cope and live with intention."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I understand what it means to live with complex stress and expectations, and I've witnessed how healing can begin when someone finally has a safe place to tell their truth. I wanted to create that kind of space for others - especially those who have spent years showing up for everyone else.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are ready to slow down, reflect, and do meaningful work around long-standing stress, trauma, or life changes. I often support older adults, caregivers, Veterans, and LGBTQIA2S+ clients who want to better understand how past experiences shape their present lives and are seeking steady, practical support.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish clients knew that therapy is a journey - one that is uniquely tailored to you. The first step is simply showing up and sitting with someone who wants your healing just as much as you do.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, we'll focus on gathering context and completing required intake assessments, including relevant historical and social information, to set a strong foundation for our work together. By the second session, we begin discussing your presenting concerns and collaborating on goals that feel meaningful and supportive to you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is informed by lived experience, service, and a deep respect for the stories people carry over time. As a Black, queer, lesbian, Disabled Veteran and aging practitioner, my work is guided by values of justice, equity, and respect for lived experience. I believe healing happens through reflection, meaning-making, and practical support, especially for those who have spent years caring for others or navigating complex systems.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by honoring each client's unique history, environment, and needs. Through attentive listening and a person-in-environment lens, I work collaboratively to shape goals, pace, and support in ways that feel meaningful and practical.
