About Provider

About Maria

I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker with 4 years of experience providing compassionate, client-centered care. I specialize in supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I aim to create a safe, affirming environment where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and discover meaningful paths toward healing and self-empowerment.

I have a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, where I developed a passion for trauma-informed and strength-based approaches. Using cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and grounding techniques, I help clients gain insight, regulate emotions, and develop practical tools for lasting change and emotional wellness.

Healing is a journey that takes courage, and you don’t have to make it alone. My goal is to walk beside you with empathy and respect as you rediscover balance, peace, and confidence. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel supported, understood, and empowered to create the life you want to live.

Get to know Maria

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor to create a safe and supportive space where healing is approached with empathy and understanding. I believe that meaningful change begins when individuals feel truly seen and heard, and my goal is to help clients navigate their healing journey with compassion and respect.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adolescents and young adults who have been impacted by trauma, including survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Many of my clients experience depression, PTSD, and anxiety disorders.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that therapy is a collaborative process. You are not alone in your healing journey, and together, we will work as a team to explore challenges, build coping skills, and create meaningful progress toward your goals.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In the first session and early stages of therapy, clients can expect a focus on building rapport and getting to know them as individuals. I prioritize creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and can begin to explore their goals for growth and healing.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is informed by my personal experiences with trauma and my commitment to empathy, compassion, and understanding. These experiences help me connect authentically with clients, honor their unique journeys, and provide a supportive space where healing, growth, and resilience can occur.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy by first understanding each client’s individual experiences, strengths, and goals. I use a flexible, client-centered approach, incorporating evidence-based techniques such as CPT, CBT, and grounding strategies, while adjusting interventions to best support each person’s unique healing journey.
